Packaging Guidelines / Storing |
|
|
- If filled drums are to be stored on their side, they should not be stacked.
- If drums are to be stored horizontally in racks, support should be provided for the entire length of the
drum.
- Storage of drums on their side is generally not recommended because of possible environmental
stress crack failure of the closures.
- When storing drums with materials which permeate polyethylene, adequate ventilation should be
provided to prevent the accumulation of hazardous vapors.
- Shelf life depends on the storage conditions and the product packaged, but generally should be
limited to one year.
- Adequate safety precautions should be observed at all times when handling drums filled with
hazardous materials.
- When using pressure-relieving vented closures, use additional caution in any of the recommendations
pertaining to stacking.
